Cadiz

Cadiz is a somewhat longer train journey from Seville than Cordoba, but Spanish trains are so nice its no great trial

First thing I came across walking from Cadiz railway station was the cruise liner in dock. Truly enormous beasts.

The Monumento a las Cortes is a wonderfully bombastic monument.

The city walls lead on to a lovely walk around the sea front (slightly ruined by road works.)

Parque Genoves would be wonderful, but half of it was closed for some serious renovation work.

Gran Teatro Falla

The Torre Tavira has a camera obscura. I wasn't prepared to wait for an English performance but settled for going to the top of the tower for the views across Cadiz.

I rather lost my bearings around the market area.

Then back to the shore and this rather nice beach.

The Cathedral is a rather dominating feature.

Lots of St Sebastians to ward off the plague. If only they learned a little science rather than a lot of RE...

This sculpture is surprisingly modern and called "Don't worry boys, I will soon have you out of those ragged clothes" (No its not, but shuld have been surely!)

The crypt would make the perfect torture chamber - large with lots of alcoves.

Like all cathedrals nowadays, you can go up the tower for views . Wish I hadn't bothered with the earlier tower as views here were better with more room.

I finished my day off in the museum of fine arts.

These are ancient anchors if you are wondering.

On top of the architectural remains are art galleries. This is a group of Zubarans.

On top of the earlier classical works is  a modern gallery with newer Spanish artists. I quite liked some of them, among the usual rubbish.
